President's Message ...
Happy CRAZY Holidays!
by Kathy Wallace,
WallaceVISION, LLC |
 |
Hello, Executive women! It’s holiday time again, when the pace picks up as we struggle to balance fun, family, friends and work! I love the holidays, but it is the busiest time of the year for my business. I love getting together with friends and all the holiday parties – but it is hard to balance at times with the business demands. If we all take a deep breath – remember to breathe – we’ll get through it just fine. We always do!
So come enjoy the beautiful Penrose Room at the Broadmoor for our annual EWI December holiday lunch. It’s a networking meeting where you can relax with EWI friends and take a deep breath!
Great news from Ways & Means! We can take the Pepsi Challenge. Lane Pepsi has agreed to put up $5,000 for a golf sponsorship if we can match it! And I know we can. Again, if we can get 100% participation from member firms, it will be easy! And special thanks to Kathleen O’Leary for getting Pepsi to step up to the plate!
See you in Dec!

EWI 5th Annual Scholastic Classic Golf Tournament
Spectacular Challenge!
The Ways and Means Committee has received an exciting fund raising
challenge! Through the energetic work of Kathleen O'Leary, our past
president, Lane Sales (Pepsi Distributing) has made a committment in
assisting EWI with $5,000 IF we can raise another $5000 through our
membership in cash donations. It's called a matching gift. This is an
outstanding offer and we need everyone's help in accomplishing this
goal. Simply, this is what it will take: 18 golf hole sponsors ($300
x 18 = $5400) or 36 hole sponsors which is 2 company sponsors on each
hole ($150 x 36 = $5,400). This is huge endeavor and for such a
wonderful cause.....furthering education and women! Thanks go to those
firms who have already made a generous commitment. Now, we need the
rest of the firms to help us achieve this goal!
If every member firm associated with EWI can make a cash donation we can
reach this generous goal! The matching gift from Lane Sales is an
opportunity we cannot let slip away. Please will each member firm give
this fund raising event $300 to help EWI have a successful golf
tournament!!!! We truly want 100% participation from our member firms.
Any donation is a tax deductible gift (because we are a 501 c 3
organization)
By now all EWI members should have received a letter from the Ways and
Means Committee informing each of you about the fund raising we are
doing this year through the 5th Annual Scholastic Classic Golf
Tournament. If you have not received a letter please let us know.
Committee members are calling EWI representatives now to get a
commitment for the 2007 golf tournament.
Remember to save the date: Friday June 1, 2007 at Kissing Camels Golf
Club. Our chapter's mission and goal is to raise funds to assist
transitional adults in obtaining a college degree, finish their college
education or assist our membership in attending the EWI Academy of
Leadership, or the Certified Professional Leader's Online Program.
Thank you for your assistance.

TO: EWI Membership
FROM: Peggy Quinn, Education and Professional Development Director
DATE: November 3, 2006
RE: 2007 Professional Development News
EWI Partners with Dale Carnegie
We are excited to announce a partnership with Dale
Carnegie for the delivery of a 2007 web seminar series.
These web seminars will be conducted on a quarterly basis. The exact
dates and content are currently being developed. Details will be
announced soon.
Academy of Leadership on Tour
The City of Chattanooga will be the location for our pilot
2007 Academy
of Leadership
on Tour. The date:
Saturday, March 31, 2007 . Modules offered
at the event will include: Professional and Volunteer Leadership:
Thinking Like a Genius (Module 1), The Power of the
Diverse Communicator (Module 2), and Leadership: The
Power of Relationships (Module 3). Registration will be offered
to EWI member firms and their employees as well as non-member firms,
educational institutions, and the public at large.
Chattanooga was selected as the location for this pilot program
for the following reasons:
-
Centralized location that supports one to three hour travel
by car or plane for many nearby EWI Chapters
-
Chapters in this immediate geographic area currently reflect
the largest number of EWI representatives needing Academy of
Leadership Modules
-
Resources to support hotel accommodations, university/college
connections, marketing, printing, travel, and public relations
venues are available through member firms in the Chattanooga
Chapter and/or their professional networks
Piloting the 2007 Academy
of Leadership
on Tour at one location will allow us to minimize
expenses, maximize target market potential, reduce administrative
overhead, and ensure quality control. We can also perfect a successful
model for future Academy of Leadership on Tour
events.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 31, 2007
, and plan to join us for the first Academy of Leadership
on Tour . Watch for registration materials and program
details coming in December!!!!

November Cavalcade Of Firms

|
The 2006 Cavalcade of firms was a great success! Hosted at the beautiful
Garden of the Gods Club, members had the chance to show off their businesses
and talents! This is our mini trade fair where member firms can
display their products and services. It provided a wonderful
opportunity for our membership to become better acquainted with each
other's businesses and it was a great networking evening overall.
The venue was upscale this year and we had excellent attendance with 20
firms represented by booths. While munching on fabulous italian goodies
created by the GOG's Club chef, members wandered the room, sampling and
taking in the displays and exhibits of fellow EWI members.
Highlights included Lynn Severson, of Lynn Severson Interiors, Joan
Saucerman of Long Term Care Insurance, Kay Atwood, showing her great
selection of logo imprinted items, EWI Prez Kathy Wallace of WallaceVision,
who displayed her artistic wares, Kathleen Kershaw with Remax Properties and
Beth Alexander of Cachet Basket Co., who presented great gift ideas for the
holidays.
Valerie Blankenship of Sage Woman Herbs had a display of her herbal
pharmacy, Sally Seidlitz of Accent Photo showed her printing skills and
Kathy Kelly from Op Tech dazzled us with her amazing array of glasses. And
many more displays rounded out the event.
The meeting provided a wonderful opportunity for our membership to become
better acquainted with each other through a great networking evening.
