My EWI experience... My first meeting with EWI was January of
2008. A friend introduced me to Pat Cooper and Susan
Davis. Over the course of several months many EWI's talked
with me about the group and the resources and benefits, and I joined
the summer of 2008 and jumped right in with both feet. I was
asked to co-chair Programs with Susan Davis and become a board
member, and after getting more involved, realized all the different
ins and outs of the chapter and got a great opportunity to meet so
many of the members. I also have attended the last two LCAM's
and it was such a fabulous experience that brought me such powerful
tools for the chapter and my personal leadership growth.
I've also had the opportunity to work with several women in the
chapter and refer business back and forth, including Diane Crimble,
Shirley Wick, Beth Alexander, Joan Saucerman, and many
more. This year I'm still with Programs and am looking forward
to having everyone's input and ideas.
And here's a little bit about my business...
I have a wealth of experience in financial management
and currently hold 8 licenses in insurance and investments. I
started my career in financial services 10 ½ years ago; trained in
the World Trade Center with Morgan Stanley and worked with other
global firms such as Merrill Lynch and Prudential. My choice
to join Presidential is because it is an independent, Colorado-based
brokerage firm with strong ethical values that believes in educating
the public in financial management and wealth building. I have
a passion for teaching people about investing and how best to use
today's tools. My strengths and passions are in helping people
not lose what they have worked so hard to earn. Another of my
strengths is the high customer service I provide to business owners
of all types; with over 16 years in business-to-business sales, I
assist professionals in protecting and growing their assets. I also
enjoy the international and commodity opportunities that expand my
knowledge in our global community. This assists clients who
want opportunity exposure but also want to limit their risk. Call me
to discuss all your thoughts and let me know if you want to become a
business partner. I'm available to talk with groups about
investments and the economy.
And a wee bit about me personally...
I've been married for over 20 years and have a son and
daughter. I've been very active in the Falcon community for
many years, volunteering in youth programs, school functions, and
with the Boys and Girls Club. My family and I also raise,
train, and show Saint Bernard dogs at our home in Falcon, Colorado.
President's Message
President Audrey Shrive Aflac Insurance
The Colorado Springs Chapter of EWI is in full
swing for this fiscal year. The new board is in place,
transitional steps are pretty much complete and the groundwork
is being laid for a phenomenal progress. We held our first
ever multi-committee meeting at the end of October. It was an
awesome collaboration of many great minds. The committees
represented were Ways and Means, Programs, Scholarship and
Membership. One of the key concepts discussed was a need to
bring greater balance in the chapter of small firms and
corporate firms. A positive strategy was developed with
wonderful synergy among the women in attendance.
No matter what the firm size or scope, I
challenge each of you to participate in bringing quality women
to visit an EWI chapter meeting. The 15 for 12 campaign has
just begun. If a firm joins EWI between now and year end, they
will not be charged for the months remaining in 2009. What a
bargain!! Now is the time to take advantage of that. Invite
women early and often!! Let's grow this chapter.
The November meeting, held at the Stargazer on
November 11th is all about protecting yourself physically and
from fraud. Every woman needs to hear this message, so bring a
guest along. You (and she!!) will be glad you did.

Hello Ladies of
Colorado Springs EWI,
We need your help as
we begin soliciting sponsors for our 8thAnnual Golf
Tournament on Friday June 4, 2010.We want
our members to have 1st opportunity in all
sponsorship areas before we begin talking to non-member
firms.Therefore, please talk to the
appropriate people in your company asap, as the 2010 budgets
are being planned right now and we would like to be
considered.We are thrilled that Cari
Aranda, our Sinton Dairy representative, has secured a $1000
sponsorship for our tournament!Thank you,
Cari!
Also, please help us
by thinking of companies outside of EWI that we can approach
for sponsorships. We are grateful for any
level of financial involvement we receive - from a $50 Golf
Cart Sponsorship on up!Most of us should
know someone who would be willing to sponsor at some level -
it's tax deductible and for such a special cause! In our suffering economy, we are raising these funds to
help women who are suffering even more!Just send us your ideas (and any contact person/info)
you might have & we will take it from there!
We look forward to
visiting with you!

Scholarship Committee:
The EWI Scholarship Committee will
work closely with The Women's Community Leadership
Initiative (WCLI), as they may have some potential ASIST
applicants in the future.
WCLI is ideal for low to modest-income women,
possibly having had some dependency on community
support. This FREE program is for women who would like
to learn about the community while gaining professional
development skills to help further their success in
life. The program is presented by Leadership Pikes Peak,
and educates and empowers women with diverse backgrounds to
develop a deeper awareness of their potential to make a
difference and become productive contributors to their
community.WCLI classes begin in January and end in June,
meeting every other Wednesday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30
p.m., with dinner included. Classes will be held at
various locations throughout the community. An application can
be downloaded from their website at http://www.leadershippikespeak.org/.
Dianne Crimble
A gracious "Thank You" was received from one of
our scholarship recipients:
Dear Dianne Crimble:
Thank you very much for granting me the EWI
scholarship. It's impossible for me to express how grateful I
am for this tremendous privilege. With this scholarship I know
that I am ever closer to my goal of attaining a college
degree. I am encouraged and honored to be the person chosen to
receive such a wonderful opportunity.
Thank you EWI for lending a hand to the women of
our community, women like me.
Warmly,
Alquiesha Kellam
Our other new recipient for fall 2009 is
Adrienne Steiner. Both ladies are attending PPCC, and
they will both be attending the EWI Holiday Luncheon on
Dec 16th.
Membership Announcements
WELCOME NEW MEMBER FIRM
Colorado Technical University
Representative: Jayme Holligan, Admissions Advisor
Most of us know Jayme but if you don't, please introduce
yourself to her at our next meeting.
Retain ~ Recruit ~ Grow
Membership is everyone's business!! (A quote from many past
(and very wise) Presidents of our great and diverse chapter of
Executive Women International). The "15 for 12" Membership
campaign is making a return appearance as a successful
recruiting tool for new members who sign up in October.
There are dozens of categories of availability so if there are
any questions at all please contact our new Membership
Director, Christine Ressler. Growing our membership
benefits the backbone of our chapter as well as our individual
members and their firms. If each one of us brings in one
new member firm this year we will have successfully enhanced
our own networking path and strengthened our ties to the EWI
initiatives of Careers, Communities and Connections. Now is
the time to start posting new members and inviting prospective
members to the Chapter meetings so they are ready to join and
be able to enjoy the full advantage of those three free months
at the end of the year. The "15 for 12" deal means that
if a new member firm joins October 1, 2009, its membership
dues cover the cost through December 31, 2010. What a
value-packed opportunity!
Just a reminder ~ EWI of Colorado Springs will once again
offer the "12 for the price of 11" meetings payment option at
renewal time.
