Colorado Springs Chapter

September 2011

Spot Light On...

edit

Kathleen Fox is originally from Garden Grove, CA.  She has lived in Colorado Springs since 1986.  Her husband is a Colorado Springs “native”.  She has three children and 10 grandchildren.

Kathleen is the president of Payroll City. Having been a controller in construction, restaurant and service industries she has both done payroll herself and outsourced with large payroll companies. Her own frustration in dealing with payroll companies was the impetus for her to develop Payroll City.  Kathleen envisioned flexible payroll software with exceptional reports designed for the accounting world as well as the ability to easily integrate with accounting and other systems.

For over ten years her company has delivered some of the best software and personal service the payroll industry has to offer.  Her company has grown substantially in the past three years and they currently process over 3,000 payroll checks per week.

She is still getting her bearings in EWI, but is excited to be a part of this organization and looks forward to getting to know everyone!

President's Message

President Carol Bryant

September is usually considered the first month of autumn. This is one of the best times of the year. We have had a great summer, warm weather, family and friends get together and now it is your time. It is time to take in the beauty of Mother Nature, especially here in Colorado. The leaves turn from green to yellow, gold, rust and brown and they are beautiful. The weather gets cooler and you start to feel the temperature changing from warm to crisp and you just feel everything is so fresh. This is how I see this time of year.

What a great time to have the “old” board pass and the “new” board begin. It is such an exciting time for everyone. The new board will begin with enthusiasm and nervousness. It is such a rewarding job and a great opportunity for learning how and why we do what we do. For many of us we started by being on a committee. It is a fun time to learn how we make the decisions we do and to get to know your fellow EWI members. Please volunteer to help in a committee and the rewards will be endless.

I would like to thank everyone for your support and for the honor of being your President this past year. I hope you have all felt welcome and will continue to challenge each other in becoming involved with EWI.

Meeting Requirements and RSVP

Everyone must RSVP Yes or No. No later than the Friday prior to the meeting date!
EWI Program Coordinators must confirm attendance numbers with the hotel or other catering company in advance.

  • No shows are charged -- we need to have timely RSVPs into the Sergeant-at-Arms the Friday before the monthly meeting which is the second Wednesday of each month.

  • It costs EWI to pay for those that RSVP and don’t show. Once our numbers are confirmed with the hotel or other catering company, any no shows and any late cancellations must be charged in full.

  • EWI is required to pay for all of its registered guests, whether or not they attend.

Should you need to cancel your reservation by the Friday before the meeting, you MUST receive a confirming email from the SAA that your cancellation is received.  If you do not get a confirming email from SAA, your reservation is still in effect and you will need to pay for the dinner that was reserved for you.

Please remember to go online to http://www.springsewi.com/ and submit your RSVP or your Regrets. You may pay online if you like (this helps us tremendously too).  Please remember to do so NO LATER than the Friday prior to the meeting.
