Cheryl Kidder - Kaiser Permanente
Originally from Georgia, who would have thought my home would end up being Colorado. Don’t misunderstand…Georgia is still my first home, I just don’t get to visit as often as I like, but you can bet when I do, I stock up on boiled peanuts, grits, fried green tomatoes, all the butter bean selections the farmer’s market offers, and of course…fried catfish!
Having a dad who was military, along with having been married to a military officer, you can bet I have visited more countries than most people. My traveling hasn’t stopped; I just do it for pleasure/vacation now.
My professional background encompasses a wide variety of experience including teaching, sales, marketing, public relations, art direction and customer service. All of those, and others not mentioned, are the skill set that landed me the position of Provider Relations Representative for Kaiser Permanente.
As Provider Relations Representative, I am “the face of Kaiser”. PR Reps visit our contracted providers (physicians, clinics and hospitals) to educate on new initiatives being launched by Kaiser, as well as bring back to Kaiser stakeholders communications from the providers.
New at this position (almost a year and a half); it is the ideal job for me. Not only do I have the skill set for the position, but I have always wanted to help people. Even as a teenager, I gave up every Saturday to volunteer as a candy striper at a state run nursing home in Georgia. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to find their “dream job”.

President Rita Worster
October begins our new year for EWI. I am looking forward to an exciting and active year. My goal for our chapter for this year is to achieve active involvement for all our members. I see all of us as “shining stars” of EWI. As a star, like our sun, we have a lot revolving around us with our family, career, and other community involvement. As an EWI “shining star” you are part of the EWI constellation and EWI will only shine brightly if all the stars are visible.
What does it mean to be active in EWI? There are lots of ways to be active such as attending chapter, board or committee meetings, writing articles for the newsletter, participating in one of the webinars offered by Corporate (Joan Saucerman will help us know what is coming up), volunteering at the golf tournament, meeting for lunch with a fellow EWI member that you don’t know well yet, introducing yourself to guests at meetings, and the list can go on. Our program committee will help us at the meetings to get to know each other and also help us with visual reminders of how active we are.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as President this year. We have a wonderful group of women who are working on the Board to coordinate all the marvelous activities that we do throughout the year and I thank them for giving of their time to EWI. I look forward to seeing all the stars this year.

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AND ANNUAL MEETING
LCAM 2011 – Faces of Leadership
This LCAM was probably the best one I have attended.
It was a great time of fabulous fun and meeting people from chapters across the U.S. and Canada sharing ideas and successes in various chapters. The new Corporate Office staff impressed me as extremely capable and refreshing!
Thursday’s theme was Connections with workshops and a great speaker. The evening Opening Gala was Portraits of Leadership with a grand conclusion featuring an exceptional artist, Michael Israel, creating four portraits in front of us in an indescribable style. Ask us about this! His paintings were then auctioned off to the audience raising almost $30,000 for EWI scholarships!
Friday featured Careers with excellent Academy of Leadership classes and scholarship recipients were recognized at lunch.
Saturday was Community beginning with the 5K Running for Reading with Cathie John and Susan Davis participating. The Annual Meeting was held in the afternoon. The Closing Gala was Let Me Entertain You featuring “Bette Midler” and “Joan Rivers” and the Presidents’ Walk.
Start planning to attend next year. You don’t want to miss it!
Joan Saucerman, Partner
Long Term Care Specialist
LCAM – A First Time Attendee's Perspective
With key-note speakers like Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman and former CEO of Carlson (a global group of companies that includes Radisson, Regent and Park Plaza hotels, and TGI Fridays), and Kim Schaller, Executive VP and Chief Marketing Officer for Hershey Entertainment, I left the leadership conference feeling inspired and motivated to accomplish more in our local chapter of EWI and in all other areas of my life. It was great to see the corporate president's vision for EWI's future and learn other chapter's best practices and successes that all of us can now bring back to our own chapter. I don't know of any other networking group in town that not only gives back to the community through college scholarships, but also sponsor's its members to attend these types of high-level events, nurturing the leader within you. If I could sum up my experience at the leadership conference in three words, they would be inspiring, motivational, and fun! I definitely hope to be able to attend again and again!
