Membership is everyone's business - quote from many past (and very wise) Presidents of our great and diverse chapter of Executive Women International.
EWI of Colorado Springs has a great new year of inspired programs and events ahead. Our Program Director is seeking your input on how EWI can improve and be the best experience for you and your business. Our Ways & Means Directors are raising the bar on fundraising to back our ASIST scholarships and LCAM attendees. The corporate staff of EWI is continuing the Academy of Leadership online and is providing numerous opportunities for online learning and teleconference training. The chapter and corporate websites continue to improve with input from all of the membership to provide value in some form each time you visit.
EWI of Colorado Springs will once again offer the "12 for the price of 11" meetings payment option at renewal time.
The "15 for 12" Membership campaign is making a return appearance as a successful recruiting tool for new members who sign up in October. There are dozens of categories of availability so if there are any questions at all please contact our new Membership Director, Christine Ressler.
Growing our membership benefits the backbone of our chapter as well as our individual members and their firms. If each one of us brings in one new member firm this year we will have successfully enhanced our own networking path and strengthened our ties to the EWI initiatives of Careers, Communities and Connections. Now is the time to start posting new members and inviting prospective members to the Chapter meetings so they are ready to join and be able to enjoy the full advantage of those three free months at the end of the year. The "15 for 12" deal means that if a new member firm joins October 1, 2009, its membership dues cover the cost through December 31, 2010. What a value-packed opportunity!
President's Message
President Audrey Shrive Aflac Insurance
It is my great honor to serve as the 2009-2010 EWI President for the Colorado Springs Chapter. I am humbled by the confidence placed in me by the membership and pledge to do my level best to live up to the expectations placed on me. Of course, success would be impossible without the incredible board of directors that have agreed to serve shoulder to shoulder with me. It is going to be a great year!
Here are the goals I have set forth for the coming year. The first is in the area of chapter membership participation. Last year we had 95% participation of the membership in the various committees. My goal this year is 100%.
Membership is always a challenge. There are so many things that compete for time in the life of today's woman. We currently have 46 member firms. My goal is to end the year with 54. Christine Ressler, PPRDC, and her membership team are committed to targeting specific firms in town and approaching them about becoming a member firm to EWI. That's an ambitious task, but one that will pay off in the long term.
We have a plethora of educational opportunities available to us via EWI. Many of these are on-line through the national office. My goal is to further promote these opportunities as they come available. Carol Bryant, Stanley Steemer, has taken this on as a special project this year. Not only will they be in the newsletter, you will also get emails and hear about them in chapter meetings.
In the previous year, we were privileged to hold membership meetings at a variety of community organizations. This gives us valuable insight into the mission of these industries. My goal is to continue to provide opportunities to you, the membership, to learn more about the organizations that are so important to our community. Brandy Merriam, Presidential Brokerage, and her team are committed to this as well
We have a strong tradition in our golf tournament. Mary- Good Forsythe, ReMax Properties, and Elva Munoz, Wells Fargo Bank, and their team have committed to increasing our golf proceeds from 17k this past year to 20K! This will enable Dianne Crimble, Pass It On, and her scholarship team to continue the support of three current recipients and to the fourth they were able to add this year.
We have a lot of work to do this year, but with the talented women that make up Colorado Springs Chapter of EWI, I know we will prevail!

Ways & Means Committee Report
Hello Ladies of Colorado Springs EWI,
While it may be difficult to think about golf with all the cold days ahead of us, spring will be here before we know it and so will our 8thAnnual Golf Tournament on Friday June 4, 2010.
"Thank you!" to all of you who have agreed to work with us on the tournament. For those of you still looking for a place to get involved...Choose Us! This is a fun and extremely rewarding committee to work on. We raised $17,000+ in June (which made it possible to add another scholarship recipient to our program) & have set a goal of $20,000 for 2010.
Crucial: Over the last few years, we have lost some of our major sponsors. Please help us by thinking of companies outside of EWI that we can approach for sponsorships. We need to talk to these companies soon, as 2010 budgets are being planned right now! Just send us your ideas (and any contact person/info) you might have & we will take it from there!
We look forward to visiting with you!
Mary-Good (719-229-9343) & Elva (719)577-5534

Meeting Summary
THE TREASURE OF EWI ALL THAT'S GOLD DOES NOT GLITTER
"We had a wonderful time at our EWI September meeting that was hosted by Terri Flores-Brown at The Springs Funeral Services. It started with a networking game where each EWI member was given another member's name & company (ON HER BACK!) so she didn't know the name, but had to guess it by asking questions.
It was a great way to network and so much fun!
The decorations were island style with exotic floral centerpieces surrounded by coins, "jewels" and treasure chests. We even had a tiki bar where wine was served by Janeene at Cachet Basket.
Pat Cooper said "Goodbye" to her board and presented them with gifts. Thank you, Pat, for the wonderful year!
Audrey Shrive began her year as president for 2009-2010, giving out treasure chests to each EWI member with a message inside, along with an inspiring talk. Susan Davis, Nomination Director, installed the new board.
The food was delicious, catered by Food Designers, and we had a birthday cake & song for the EWI September birthdays.
Networking, delicious food and wine, fun decorations and fantastic women. What more could we want?

Corporate Update
LCAM Update....Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting .....Louisville, KY Sept 2009
Colorado Springs EWI's you will be proud to know that we were a hit with the EWIDOL contest; all contestants were given medals for participation, so there was no first place medal to bring home for our Chapter...BUT we did rock the house with our own rendition of "There's No Business Like EWI Business". We hope to perform it for you sometime soon.....stay tuned......
We are proud to announce that our Chapter has been asked to serve on two (2) Corporate committees this year, Budget Committee-Pat Cooper and By-Laws Committee-Susan Davis. Carol Bryant served as a Teller at our Annual Meeting.
Educational seminars and classes take up about 85% of our time while we are attending LCAM...And this year they were exceptional. Please think about budgeting for LCAM in 2010 and experience a very educational conference. 2010 will be help in Kansas City, MO and 2011 in Minneapolis, MN.
