My name is Deb Haar and I am the co-owner of Enchanted Signs. My husband, Patrick, and I opened Enchanted Signs
in 2007 after moving to Colorado Springs from Albuquerque to be closer to our son's family. We have enjoyed our move, new house, new neighbors and our new work network. It has been a big change from the corporate and volunteer life we had in Albuquerque. At the end of our first year Pat went to work for SI International and our son,
just back from his second tour in Iraq, joined me in the business. Jon and I enjoy working together and having family get-togethers often. Our daughter, Allison, joined us in Colorado Springs in December 2008 after graduating from
The University of New Mexico. We all enjoy being together and watching the (3) granddaughters grow.
Enchanted Signs is a full service Sign company. We provide quality service and sign solutions to the Colorado Springs area. We specialize in custom graphic designs, digital printing, dimensional letters, architectural signs, and vehicle graphics. We take the time to get to know the customer and their needs.
Many times we can suggest a solution for a signage problem that the customer doesn't know exists.
I invite everyone to come to our showroom and visit our website at www.enchantedsigns.com to see the various types of signage available. We have many stories to tell about customers who needed something specific and couldn't find
a solution. We provided the solution, for example a Chuppah for a Jewish wedding; the numbers and Make-A-Wish decals for a motocross racer; and a new logo, truck graphics, T-shirts and business cards for the new handyman in town. We can design and create whatever you need or desire.
I am the Director of Sales and Marketing and I enjoy meeting people as often as I can. As I listen to people talk I am always thinking of ways to help - be it signage or another contact I know that might help the situation.

Is it really May?
by Pat Cooper, Wallace Vision
|
|
One -third of our year is now history, Spring snows continue to bring our needed moisture. We will celebrate May Day, Mothers Day, Armed Forces Day, Labor Day and this is also ...."crunch month" for our 7th Annual Scholastic Golf Tournament.
Thank you to this year's Co-Chairs, Joan Taylor and Mary Good Forsyth for stepping up and taking charge, can you believe neither are golfers!!! Please remember the purpose of our tournament; “it is to fund Scholarships.” We currently have three Women receiving Scholarships and we would like to increase it to four with your help. If you have not indicated your commitment to our only fund-raiser, please do so in the next couple of weeks. Assemble your foursomes, bring you door prizes, T bag items to our May meetings or call one of our Chairs for pick-up service. Education improves the ability to have more prosperous and productive citizens in our community.
EWI of Colorado Springs is in its 26th year; and continues to be one of the largest Chapters Worldwide. Help us grow by being an active contributing member of our Chapter. There are an abundance of incredible ideas expressed at meetings, however I need your help to keep our dreams alive.

A Spring Evening at Glen Eyrie
|
The Evening at Glen Eyrie in early May was a very pleasant and enlightening event for all the Ewi ladies and their guests who attended. It was a blustery, beautiful Colorado evening in a absoutely gorgeous setting! We were all treated to a personal historical tour and custom video of Glen Eyrie past and present.
It was presented by a couple who is fortunate to live on the grounds of Glen Eyrie for the summer. Being a native of Colorado Springs myself, it was amazing the information they presented that I had never known about the property and all the history and even what is available today for the general public to take advantage of.
It would be a spectacular place for a wedding/reception, they have special rooms and times for Teas. There are conventions and events of all types encouraged, and at this time, specials on Bed and Breakfasts.
The buffet dinner was superb and we had a report on the upcoming Golf Tournament with postive report from Mary Good-Forsthye and all is coming together wonderfully well!!
Some great door prizes were won and I beleive everyone had fun and some great convesation and good times together! See You all at the Golf Tourney!!

Corporate Update
New Website, Email Addresses
Loss of a Past Chapter and Corporate President
The Dallas Chapter was recently informed of the death of one of our Corporate Life members, Jeanne Rovenger Eddy. Jeanne was the representative for the Sheraton Dallas Hotel for many years. She became Chapter President in 1966 and went on to be Corporate International President in 1975-76 . In 1985, Jeanne represented Jeanne Eddy Co. as a Chapter representative and an executive on the Chapter Executive Committee. Some of our active members no doubt remember Jeanne with affection and deep respect for her contributions to EWI. The Colorado Springs Chapter has sent a card of condolence to the family.

How About Just Using Common Sense? |
|
by Pat Cooper
Recently I have read article after article concerning saving our environment. Trying to absorb how we should be doing this that and the other thing. Enough already I have decided to go back to the teaching of many of our American Indian Tribes. Take care of our mother earth she will provide you the opportunity to live in a beautiful, plentiful environment.
Thoughts to ponder:
1. I live on a rock pile (Cheyenne Mountain), so planting a garden is not wise, besides if it could actually grow, it would be a feast for all our wild life.
2. Deposit all items that will not biodegrade in a reasonable time in a recycling box. A reasonable time is a few months not years. It is a terrible chore, but it is unwise to think that a battery or small appliances are biodegradable.
3. Is a smart car a wise purchase? Safety issues to consider, cost of operation is attractive, but is it cost effective?
4. Trash is ugly... My sister and I tried this experiment one summer. We went out on a State Hwy and picked up trash along our fence line, about 1 mile long. We were shocked at the number of motorist that honked their horn or gave us a thumbs' up. The motor-cycle riders were the most expressive...PS. We do not have a highway sign stating that we clean up or do we need one. Trash is ugly..
5. Use your canvas bags for groceries..Plastic bags that line our Highways along our great nation is a reflection of us..
- Please send me your personal thoughts for our next newsletter...
