When I moved to Colorado Springs in the mid-‘80's, my first thought was, "I have discovered a little diamond tucked away in the Rockies and I will never leave this place!" I still love Colorado Springs as much as the first time I saw it and now have the joy and pleasure of introducing it to others.
My husband, Bill, and I have been working in residential real estate for many years in the Colorado Springs area and have been associated with Re/Max Properties since 1996. Working as a team, we have been able to provide a higher level of customer service for our clients, as well as the advantage of both male and female perspectives that our customers value. Over 70% of our business comes from repeat and referral business, which is the highest compliment we can receive from our friends and clients.
In today's market it is more important than ever to work with experienced, qualified and knowledgeable realtors who are in touch with our ever-changing market. We have worked in the local market since the 80's, constantly examining the fluctuations as they have taken place. We have seen dramatic changes, both in the market and in the technology over these years. Our desire is to use our experience and knowledge to help others make wise real estate decisions, whether buying or selling.
Through the years we have helped sellers and buyers in every price range. We love the opportunity to help first-time buyers realize the dream of owning their own home. At the other end of the spectrum, we work closely with a Parade of Homes Award Winning Builder as upper-end purchasers create the home of their dreams.
We truly believe our success through the years has come as a result of the customer service we strive to provide. As our clients have become our friends, we are fortunate to both love what we do and develop lasting relationships along the way.

Fall, Finances and Fun!!!
by Pat Cooper, Wachovia |
|
We are moving into fall in the Rockies - crazy weather, crazy stock market, and a crazy business outlook at the moment. BUT we have all seen the ups and downs before - and survived them. We are moving into the high retail season, and even if the budget is tight, there is no reason not to enjoy the holidays. Think of your EWI colleagues when you need business or personal services, and they will think of you. Together we will weather the storms ahead.
EWI is not about surviving. It's about thriving! Make your time with EWI friends count: for fun, sharing, support when we need it, and business contacts! Take advantage of the strong network you have and make it work for you - in more ways than one!
Highlights in the last two weeks have prompted the oncoming holiday season and what an opening Fall Season many of us have already experienced.
A tremendously successful 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration. A huge Thank You to Kathy Wallace and Kathleen O'Leary and their committee for a memorable evening that we will cherished fondly. Your Board of Directors completed their Board Retreat on Friday Oct 24th and we will be reaching out to each and everyone as we proceed with Mission P.A.T. (Possibilities - Analyze - Take Action)

Programs Committee:

Hello Membership!
I am, Brandy Merriam, with Presidential Brokerage for those I have yet to meet. This year I am working with the fabulous Susan Davis, our past president and with Wells Fargo Bank, on programs for our chapter for 2009. The following are areas where we need your input and support. This year under the guidance of Pat Cooper, our President, the Colorado Springs chapter is focused on our connections with each other and encouraging everyone to get involved in some way. We will continue to focus on Connections, Career and Community! The P.A.T. Mission is Possibilities, Analyze and Take Action.
1.For the 2009 Program Calendar we need 10-15 people who would love to give ideas and participate in program topics and locations with the Connections, Career and Community themes. We need individuals to take 1 month during the year to take action on a program. Our new President said in her acceptance speech in September "Involve every member in our organization; if you do not step forward, we will be reaching out to tap your wisdom." Translation -- if you don't come to us, we will be going to you!
2.We want to know what inspires you, What do you Enjoy, What do you want to Learn more about and what Possibilities to explore and What Action we can take!
Please contact myself or Susan to take charge of one month during 2009 to plan a dynamic meeting for our chapter. We want to know what inspires you, what do you enjoy or what you want to learn more about are some of the things we want to learn from you, the membership.
Please join Susan and I on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Panera's Bread off of Woodman on North Academy at 11:00 a.m. for our first brainstorming program session.
Enjoy a Spectacular Day!

October Meeting
25th Anniversary Gala |
 |
|
Over 100 current and past EWI members and family attended a smash gala
at the Broadmoor Friday evening Oct. 17th. Kay Atwood and Linda
Williamson did a super job decorating the Lake Terrace Dining room
(where EWI was incorporated 25 years ago) with candles, elegant
centerpieces and a 25 year EWI ice sculpture. We were entertained by
the Shadow Mountain Band and by Brenden McHenry, founder Wanda Reaves
talented grandson, who had sung to us as a small child, now a college
sophmore. The highlight of the evening was a 25 Year retrospective
photo montage put together by Caroline Nelson and Bea Steahlin. Special
guests included 3 of our 4 current scholarship winners, Denver EWI
officials, and Mary Ellen McNally (EWI life member and past city council
member) and Jan Martin (current city council member). Founding members
Wanda Reaves and Brenda Smith addressed the group.
Attendees were pleased to take home their commemorative champagne splits
(The Corkscrew Custom Wines) and EWI silver luggage tags (Orbit
Promotions. We had a special moment when Bea Steahlin, Life Member
Emeritus, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. The winner of the Extreme
Door Prize was Barb Winter, with over $1305 raised for the scholarship
fund with all the tickets purchased. Beth Alexander, Tia Warren, Linda
Williamson and Kay Atwood helped to present it to her. Abby Kreuser was
the official photographer at the event and will be making those
available to us soon - details on that to follow. Then the band upped
the pace with some dance music at the end.
If you missed it, you missed a night to remember.
The co-chairs would like to thank everyone who had any part in putting
the event together. It was a very special evening and was a team effort!
Thank you!
Kathy Wallace & Kathleen O'Leary

More on the Gala... |
|
The EWI Gala celebrating our 25th year was just wonderful! I want to thank all of you for the gift basket and the honor you gave me at the event. I loved it all. My grandson said, 'Granna, you did good. You were the only one that didn't cry at the mike!' It was an emotional gathering for most of us. Bea's words made it more meaningful for all of us, I think.
Kathy Wallace and Kathleen O'Leary and the planning committee did just a great job. They gave it all the right touches. The corsages, the video, the ice sculpture, the music, the food, etc.
It just couldn't have been better. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
-Wanda

After my moment in the spotlight at our Gala Event last weekend, I confirmed my sneaking suspicion that public speaking is not my strong suit. Writing is a venue I am both comfortable with and confident in my ability to express myself. So, for you fabulous women of EWI, I share this message from my heart.
When I first arrived at EWI under Kathy Wallace's soft and nurturing wing, I felt well received by all of you. I went home that evening feeling sure that I found a group of women I could feel proud to call my friends. At that first meeting, less than a year ago, I could sense the deep connection you have for each other. It was confirmed at our wonderful 25 year celebration.

I've been contemplating what it is exactly that a person needs in order to consider herself a member of a group-any group. It seems that was demonstrated for us at our party both in words and pictures. We need to laugh together, and work together, and cry together. Much the same as what a successful family might encounter over the period of 25 years of living and loving together. It was evident to me that you have experienced the makings of a family. You have shared life and death together. You have shared your joy and pain. You have laughed till you couldn't stand up and you have cried in each others arms. You have sweat together over projects and board meetings and you have danced the night away.
I am both human and coach. The human side of me longs for the inclusion in a tribe that has been in existence for a quarter of a century and the coach side gently nudges me to take responsibility for my experience. I choose to be involved and connected. I choose to care about you and be cared for by you. I choose to be part of this group through my powerful contribution. I choose to laugh and cry and dance! I invite the new members who desire to become initiated into this group of powerful, deeply caring, successful, and sexy women (I saw you, we look mahvelous) to join me in a simple method that is guaranteed to give you exactly what you want: take 100% responsibility for creating the experience you desire. Instead of waiting for it to happen to you, make it happen for you!
As a new member in EWI, I'm officially taking responsibility for my experience. I drop the qualifier new and claim my full membership in EWI. I am a member of EWI and I have one thing to say to the new members. Welcome to the tribe!
