“Every day People straighten up the hair, why not the heart?” Che Guevara
More women die of cardiovascular disease than from the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. But 80 percent of cardiac events in women could be prevented if women made the right choices for their hearts involving diet, exercise and abstinence from smoking. Over 140 invitations were sent out! Due to a small operational glitch...most of the invites were mailed April 9th but two other batches went out subsequently. RSVP’s are rolling in and we anticipate a great turnout to hear our featured May speaker, Leslie McGinn, Executive Director of the American Heart Association.
Please follow up with any one on the invitation list you may be acquainted with. Encourage them to attend and RSVP directly to Robin Patterson, Membership Director.
Please keep your referrals coming! Email Robin with any leads we can follow up on for potential new members:

No more January due dates and pro-rating for new members!
Remember when talking with potential members that new memberships stay in effect for twelve full months and are renewed on an anniversary date now. Talk up the benefits of EWI!
EWI professional development opportunities range from a comprehensive, proprietary Academy of Leadership series, a bi-annual Leaders’ Summit for graduates of the Academy of Leadership program, an EWI Online learning program, and teleseminars for member firms and their employees. Professional development is cited as a key benefit to individuals.

Heart Walk Saturday, June 2, 2012 Colorado Springs Please Join My Heart Walk Team Today!
Hi EWI Members:
This year I am co-chairing American Heart Association Go Red for Women in September. And to start this off on the right foot, I have chosen to make a difference by being a Team Captain for the American Association’s Heart Walk on June 2nd. I am creating a team of walkers to help me raise awareness and funds - and I really want you to walk with me! If you can’t walk please donate.
Join my team in 3 easy steps: 1) Click on the link below to visit my web page 2) Click the ‘My Team Page’ Link 3) Click the ‘Join our Team’ link and follow the prompts to register
Did you know? 1 in 3 Americans have some form of cardiovascular disease. Heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. 36,000 babies are born with heart defects each year.
Together, we can change these statistics! Please join me, and then help our team grow by forwarding this email to anyone else who may want to have some fun, get exercise, raise awareness and funds along with making a difference in our community. Thanks a lot, in advance, for your participation.
Follow This Link to visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support American Heart Association - Colorado Springs, Susan Davis, GoRed For Women 10th Anniversary event. So fill your heart with what’s important!

EWI is required to pay for all of its registered guests, whether or not they attend.
Should you need to cancel your reservation by the Friday before the meeting, you MUST receive a confirming email from the SAA that your cancellation is received. Ways & Means Committee:
Countdown to Fun, Friends & Fundraising!! June 1, 2012 at the Broadmoor
May is already here and we have much to accomplish to make our 10th Annual Scholastic Golf Tournament a success.
We really need all you current EWI’s to rally and work on securing golfers, luncheon attendees (great time to bring guests!), gather up donations for Silent Auction & Door Prizes and of course...Sponsors!
We currently have a $2000 sponsorship from Ent, a $1000 sponsorship from Adam Way Financial/Office Now, and the $500 putting challenge by Wells Fargo.
Remember if you sponsor a hole this year your company can have a presence at the hole, so consider recruiting hole sponsors as well. We currently have FOX21, Central Bancorp, Colorado Christian University, Discover Goodwill, Pikes Peak Regional Development, Proforma, Luma, Standard Textile, And Wallace Vision (some of these are 1/2 hole sponsors).
If you or someone you know will be golfing, please register early so we can get a feel for the golfer turnout, you can always pay later as long as it’s before the tournament.
Thanks to all of you that have already responded with donations and reported in on your efforts to recruit for this event...we appreciate you!
