Rep:
Kathleen Bosley Kershaw
Quality Service Certified is Kathleen's written commitment given to all buyers and sellers assuring the delivery of all fourteen points of service promised by her representation. She is proud to announce that she holds a perfect rating for customer satisfaction to date. Performing the necessary logistics of a real estate transaction is only the basics of what you can expect. Performing the job the way she would expect it for herself brings the concept of customer service to another level. Knowing how to brainstorm a solution to the many possible scenarios is key to producing a successful closing for both buyers and sellers. Communication, negotiations and being able to create a win-win result is passionately demonstrated throughout her years of being a realtor. Whether you are a first time buyer or a seasoned investor, you can be assured that your goals are put first. Each client is directed with a "one step at a time" approach.
Kathleen has been a licensed agent for almost thirty years, inclusive of three states. She has served as a Director for a Board of Realtors, chaired numerous groups, managed office and sales personnel and has been a restaurant proprietor. Kathleen currently works for one of the top producing Re/Max offices, Re/Max Properties, which was established in 1988, and is a part of the successful Team Jensen, which has combined experience of almost 50 years.
Kathleen joined EWI at the beginning of this year, thanks to an invitation by Kathryn Flobeck. She has recently accepted the Scholarship Committee chair position along with Kim Powell, Colorado Aviation, as co-chair. Barbara Winter, Ent Federal Credit Union, will be assisting with this exciting process. Kathleen would like to invite more ladies to participate and she looks forward to hearing from you. She is quoted as saying " I am privileged to be a part of this dynamic group of women. I look forward to the camaraderie, networking and to making a difference in the lives of the women that our organization benefits".
I would appreciate the opportunity to work for you and your family and friends. Please contact me at: kathleenkershaw@remax.net; www.teamjensen.net; 719.205.4486; Re/Max Properties, Inc. 1740 Chapel Hills Drive.
Get Ready to Flaunt Your Business and Talents!!
Ladies, it time to sign up for the Calvalcade of Firms!
This year the Cavalcade of Firms has been scheduled for our October 12th meeting at a new and exciting location, The Paragon Culinary Institute, located at Fillmore and I-25. We will enjoy a chef prepared buffet in a very unique jazz club and ballroom setting! For newcomers to EWI, the Cavalcade is basically our own Mini Trade Show. Members who wish to participate in “show and tell” set up booths to showcase, or FLAUNT, their business. It’s a great opportunity to get information to and from our membership, and whether you have a booth, or you choose to stroll and take everything in, it makes for a wonderful evening. For more information about reserving a booth, email Beth Alexander, or call her at 593-9458. Sign-up sheets are now available and will be distributed at the September meeting.

President's Message
Memorable Year
by Linda Williamson
|
 |
Well, it’s that time of the year already.
I can’t believe my term as President of EWI is over. Without a doubt, it has been a memorable year. I’ve had the privilege of working with an exciting, positive, committed and fun board. This board could be counted on to not only attend meetings, but to participate as well. I want to sincerely thank all of you for the help you gave over and over again. And above all, thank you for caring about the organization of EWI, its members and its future.
Kathleen O’Leary, thank you for your uncompromising support and help, and congratulations on becoming the 2005-2006 President of EWI.
Georgianna Lee, thank you for your unfailing account of accurate and timely meeting minutes.
Marti Hartman, thank you for the footsteps you left me to follow, because they most definitely led me in the right direction.
Joan Pierce, thank you for changing my paradigm. I honestly did not believe financial people could be both smart and funny. I love your humor.
Kathryn Flobeck, thank you for all your help in building our membership and making our new members feel welcome.
Donna Berty and Susan Davis, what a tag team. Your working together is exemplary. Thank you both, for the presence you two brought to the board.
Pat Cooper and Verna Severson, thank you for your dedication and commitment to the golf fundraiser.
Kathy Kelly, thank you for your wonderful creativity. You left no stone unturned putting together programs. We missed Jerry Jo Shires tremendously and know she is with us in spirit.
Jane Marshall, thank you for taking our newsletter to another level. I am so appreciative of Lorrie Todd taking the time to teach you the skills to produce such a professional product.
Cathie John, thank you for keeping the directory up-to-date. You have no idea how many times I’ve used that directory and felt grateful to you for your efforts.
Kathy Wallace, thank you for your willingness to fill the position of scholarship chair when there was a vacancy. You saw the need and filled the void.
Jean Roblewsky thank you for keeping us on track. You know our past, and it helps guide our future.
Marilyn…sorry, Beth Alexander, thank you for your contagious smile and your way of getting us to write articles.
Bea Steahlin, thank you for your persistance to have members RSVP for meetings. Somehow, you and Patty Klase, always managed to have food for everyone.
EWI members, thank you for your membership and your ideas that help make us a fun group. My hope is that your experience was as fulfiling as mine!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
|
August - Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region
by Casey and Lynn Cool
The August Chapter meeting at the Humane Society was a success! We had a
great dinner with a presentation by Randy Harlson, Director of Development.
Randy spoke at length about the role of the Human Society-past, present and
future. Randy informed us of the many different programs within the Humane
Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
Adoption Services, HSPPR's kennels are
open seven days a week for the public to view available shelter guests in
need of loving homes. There is a 100% adoption rate of adoptable animals.
HSPPR's Lost and Found program, where they have returned more than 5,000
lost pets to their owners, continuing to strive to improve their more than
40% success rate of reuniting lost pets with their families. The Humane
Society has a medical fund that aids sick or injured animals in their care.
HSPPR also has a Safe Pet program where they work with the victims of
domestic violence and T.E.S.S.A. and provide free foster care.
The T.L.C.
or Twice-Loved Canines is a program where volunteers work with qualifying
shelter dogs in need of socialization or basic obedience training, enjoying
an 85% success rate of participants' adoptions.
The Humane Society of the
Pikes Peak Region works with a network of more than 100 area rescue groups
to place animals with loving families in their rescue partnership. The
Critter Cruiser is HSPPR's mobile adoption unit that allows shelter guests
to be adopted at community events. As well as many other programs like the
spay/neuter, micro chipping and obedience training.
Randy also addressed questions about the latest changes and excitement
regarding the Humane Society acquiring the city animal control contract for
Colorado Springs and what changes will happen in response.
The meeting was
followed up by a tour of the facility and the animals available for adoption. Overall, we had a terrific time and learned a great deal regarding the Human Society and its role as an advocate for a number of the animals we love in our community.
Door prizes were provided by: Kay Atwood (Orbit Promotions); Lauren Shaw (Physique Transformations Studio); Lynn Cool (The Cool Company); and Diane McCreery (Hub Carwash and Diner).

What Does EWI Mean to Me?
by Jeannie Roblewsky
When Beth Alexander put out an email asking a Board Member to write an article about what EWI means to me, I had to stop and think about it for a few minutes. It has become such a part of my life that I think I take it, and our members, for granted sometimes. I have never had a bad experience when dealing with our members and I am a charter member (something I am very proud to flaunt) so that is more than twenty years, and no bad experiences.
I was amazed, from the very first, by the caliber of women in this organization. It is a privilege to be in the company of so many talented women; many of whom I would not have met without EWI.
One of the missions of EWI is promoting member firms and I don't know of any organization that does it better, but you also have to get involved if you want a positive return on your investment. I don't think you can promote your business if you don't attend the monthly meetings, or get involved on a committee, or donate a door prize. And while I am on this subject, do you support the other members of EWI by patronizing their businesses, using their products, seeking their professional advice? If not, why not? This is another great way to use your membership to get the most benefit.
Our scholarship is another reason I believe in EWI and our chapter. Our scholarships assist women who are not your typical college student. They are women who have decided to take charge of their life by continuing their education. Most of them work fulltime, take care of their family and attend college. The scholarships we present can often make a difference in whether they are financially able to attend or not.
On the personal side, the friendships I have made in EWI are true treasures. These women, these wonderful women, were there for me when my husband passed away, when I decided to make a radical change in my professional life, when I needed to cry on a shoulder. They put up with my weird sense of humor and showed me how to enjoy life.
What more could you ask for?
