Gilbert Gibson
Celtic Celebration
Jean Roblewsky
Gilbert Gibson’s was established in January 2002 by Linda Gilbert to celebrate our family’s Celtic heritage. It is truly a family business with Linda running the business along with help from her husband, Lee and sister Jean Roblewsky and brother John Patrick. We have even enlisted Bea Steahlin (the Sinton Dairy EWI representative) who, if you haven’t noticed, is from England, to help out in the shop. Our first business success came through our travels to Celtic festivals and highland games around Colorado and Arizona where Linda‘s son, Mathew, often competed in the bagpipe championships.
Looking for a way to stay close to home for the winter months we opened a shop, Celtic Celebration, at the Citadel Mall for the Christmas season 2004, just to see how it would go. Well, it went very well and because of the popularity of our products and service, we are celebrating our third Christmas at the mall. The overwhelming interest by people to discover their Celtic ancestry and family name history often brings them into the shop and they discover our wide variety of products and services. We import the majority of our products from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. We can order you a kilt or a bagpipe. We offer jewelry with a variety of Celtic designs, clothing, tartan scarves, Irish and Scottish woolens, family histories, music, books, tea and much more.
Our ultimate goal is to expand the business to include kiosks during the Christmas season at other malls in Colorado and travel around the country to highland games and festivals during the Spring and Summer.
For this Holiday season we have a beautiful selection of Irish music boxes, tree ornaments and some of the cutest baby clothes you have ever seen.
Gilbert Gibson’s joined EWI about 2 years ago and Jean Roblewsky is their representative. Jean has been a member of the Colorado Springs EWI chapter since the beginning more than 20 years ago and after retiring from The Broadmoor Hotel she has continued her association with EWI as the representative for Gilbert Gibson’s. EWI has been a great networking opportunity for the shop and has contributed to door prizes and the golf tournament fundraiser.
We would love to have you stop by the shop at The Citadel anytime. We are located just outside JC Penney on the upper level or visit our website at www.gilbertgibsons.com.

President's Message
Let's Go, Executive Women!
by Kathy Wallace, WallaceVISION, LLC
|
|
Hello, all! I am looking forward to the months ahead as EWI moves ahead with continued professional development, networking, (and a bit of just plain fun) at our monthly meetings. You have told us that quality programs are important, and your Board listened! Check out October’s program!
This month’s presentation by Kathleen Gage on leadership will be well worth not only your time, but that of your co-workers, employees, bosses and colleagues. I heard her present at the EWI national Academy of Leadership last week, and she is truly a world-class trainer. You will come away with value which you can use in your professional growth and peer interactions. Invite some friends – they will thank you for it!
LCAM (the EWI national Leadership Conference & Annual Meeting) was excellent. Not only were the Leadership training modules excellent, but we had presentations by the world reknown Disney Institute. LCAM has reached the point where they now consistently present world-class training for the EWI chapter members who attend. The local chapters said they wanted EXCELLENT training they could use, and Corporate EWI listened to us .
I would strongly encourage those of you who can to look into attending LCAM this next year. Your firm will benefit from your attendance - and yes, there is time for a bit of fun as well! Some chapters (much smaller than we are) are represented with from 10 to 20 members every year at LCAM. Let’s plan and think about how we can send more members to this valuable conference.
See you at the October meeting!

Our September meeting was held at the beautiful Fine Arts Center Jazz Bistro downtown in the Plaza of the Rockies. The meeting centered around a wine tasting which also provided a wonderful opportunity for networking. The Mediterranean menu provided by The Food Designers added a little something different to the evening. The FAC currently has a display by Dale Chihuly featured at the Jazz Bistro and this was a great opportunity to see some of his work without the crowds. It was a pleasure to see a couple of our "old timers" at this meeting. Jerry Jo Shires was able to attend and she looked great! Jerry Jo and her family will be moving to Texas in the next few weeks and we will certainly miss her. Sharon McGuiness has moved back to Colorado Springs after a few years in Pennsylvania and we are glad to have her back in town. A great big THANK YOU to Dianne Crimble-Loper for putting this meeting together.
