Do you have a question or suggestion?
The Your Voice column of the EWI Chapter Pulse was created so that all members have a place to:
ask questions; get answers; give suggestions; let us know what we are doing right; let us know what we could improve upon; but, is not limited to the above.
This is Your Voice. The best way to do this is to contact YOUR VOICE committee. The committee will try to respond to all information sent to the committee. The response will either be published in the Chapter Pulse, or to that individual member representative, if more appropriate.
This is your EWI Chapter. In addition to adhering to our mission statement, we want you to get the most out of EWI.
Get Ready to Flaunt Your Business and Talents!!
This year the Cavalcade of Firms has been scheduled for our October 12th meeting at a new and exciting location, The Paragon Culinary Institute, located at Fillmore and I-25. We will enjoy a chef prepared buffet in a very unique jazz club and ballroom setting! For newcomers to EWI, the Cavalcade is basically our own Mini Trade Show. Members who wish to participate in “show and tell” set up booths to showcase, or FLAUNT, their business. It’s a great opportunity to get information to and from our membership, and whether you have a booth, or you choose to stroll and take everything in, it makes for a wonderful evening. For more information about reserving a booth, email Beth Alexander, or call her at 593-9458, or watch for sign-up sheets that will be distributed in the coming months.

President's Message
Lasting,
Memorable,
Powerful Relationships……
Cultivate, Build and Keep Relationships
by Linda Williamson
|
 |
EWI is an organization of opportunities and serving on the local board harvests great rewards. Kathleen O’Leary, Vice President/President Elect, and I were privileged to be a part of EWI’s Spring Conference in Burbank, California.
EWI offers a curriculum consisting of four modules called Academy of Leadership. I would like to tell you of the powerful Relationships seminar. The eight hour session provided excellent guidelines for lasting, memorable, powerful relationships. I was reminded of many things that I had already heard, but forgotten. Last, but not least, I brought back a little souvenir (or keepsake) of some of those things we know, but often forget. Below is a Relationship checklist from the seminar that we can use to stay focused on the little things that reap big returns:
Relationships do not just happen, they are intentional. Leaders go to great lengths to build and maintain relationships. Cultivating relationships is never a waste of time.
Relationships are ne ed-based. Focus on the needs of the other person. Leaders build and maintain relationships by filling a need, or want, in another person’s life. You can get what you want, if you just help enough people get what they want.
Be forgiving, there is no such thing as a perfect relationship. Smart leaders overlook imperfections in themselves and others. They are interested in building and maintaining relationships, not in being right.
Relationships are long-term. Leaders do not use others to meet their short-term ne eds or quotas; they build relationships that lead to long term accomplishments. The relationships you initiate today may come to fruition 5, 10, or 20 years from now.
Relationships are unique. No two relationships are alike or the same. Consider everyone’s uniqueness a gift. Each relationship is compos ed of two individuals with specific ne eds and wants. Every relationship should be treat ed differently.
Relationships should be built on encouragement. Encouragement and validation will maintain the relationship and push the person to higher levels of success.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

May - Focus on EWI -
by Kathleen O'Leary
Our Chapter meeting was held at Giuseppes restaurant on May 11th. The program committee of Kathy Kelly (Op-Tech Laboratory), Verna Severson (Woodford Manufacturing), Joan Saucerman (LTC Insurance) and Kathleen OāLeary (Lane Affiliated Companies-Pepsi) determined it might be helpful to the next yearsā board to get input from the chapter members on their EWI experiences. We titled the meeting FOCUS ON EWI and came up with four main questions to get input from the members on what they would like to see in the future for their chapter. We had board members act as facilitators at each table to lead the discussions. We asked another board member to act as the Īrecorderā to take down notes and turn in the information at the end of the evening. There were lively discussions all around! Kathleen O'Leary, Vice President/President Elect, will be compiling the information from the members and will report back at a future meeting. This information will be invaluable to the upcoming board in forming their Īvisionā for the future of our chapter! Thank you for participating.
