Dianne L. Loper,
AAMS ®
Pass It On, Inc.
I told them what I wanted to accomplish. They came back with solutions.
Will Perkins, Perkins Motor Co.
At Pass It On, Inc. we design and fund plans to protect family businesses from the many financial disasters that can jeopardize their survival. Our strategies protect the business during the building phase, accumulate money on a tax-favored basis during the profit phase, and transfer the business at the eventual retirement of the owner. We also provide for the unplanned transfers that occur following an illness or death of an owner by developing a business continuation strategy for employees and family members.
1. Who takes over when it’s time for the owner to move on?
2. How do we protect the assets we’ve built over a lifetime?
3. Who takes over managing them in the end?
Client Services:
-Business Succession Plan Design
-Estate Plan Coordination for Owners of Closely-held Co.
-Business and Personal Insurance Planning
-Executive Benefits for Key Employees of Private Companies
-Benefit Plans for Executives of Non-Profit Organizations
-Practical Use of Charitable Planning Concepts
For the past 30 years, Pass It On, Inc. has worked with companies to develop exit strategies for the owners, facilitate the transfer of the business to future generations, and, in some instances to create special employee groups to buy the companies. We currently serve a clientele in 36 states and 4 foreign countries.
We will arrange a no-obligation conversation during which we can find out about the business and the planning that has been done. We promise to honestly evaluate whether we can, in fact, be of help to them and if not, we will initiate no further contact. Additional information can be found on our website at www.passitoninc.com. Feel free to call us at 719.471.8320 or stop by the office at 1216 W. Colorado Avenue.

President's Message
Happy New Year!
by Kathleen O'Leary
|
|
Hello, Executive Women – it’s GREAT to be here!
Did you know that the beginning of the New Year has been welcomed on different dates throughout history? Great Britain and its colonies in America adopted the Gregorian calendar in 1752, in which January 1st was restored as New Year's Day.
Ways of celebrating differ as well, according to customs and religions of the world. People in Moslem societies, for example, celebrate the New Year by wearing new clothes. Southeast Asians release birds and turtles to assure themselves good luck in the twelve months ahead. Jewish people consider the day holy, and hold a religious ceremony at a meal with special foods. Hindus of India leave shrines next to their beds, so they can see beautiful objects at the start of the New Year. Japanese prepare rice cakes at a social event the week before the New Year. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve in Ireland, there is a tradition in many villages for their pipe bands to welcome in the New Year.
The kiss shared at the stroke of midnight in the United States is derived from masked balls that have been common throughout history. As tradition has it, the masks symbolize evil spirits from the old year and the kiss is the purification into the New Year. The song, Auld Lang Syne, is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the New Year. Auld Lang Syne literally means old long ago, or simply, the good old days.
Whatever the custom, most of people feel the same sentiment. With a new year, we can expect a new life. We resolve to do things different or to get started on something we have always wanted to do. We wish each other good luck and promise ourselves to do better in the following year.
For my new year I am resolving just a few things. I’d like to try something new or learn something new. I’d like to stretch myself and see where it takes me – being your president is certainly part of that stretching!
I wish for you all a very happy and prosperous 2006, whatever prosperity may mean to you. I wish you good luck in your resolutions and look forward to stretching with you in 2006.
Happy New Year!

December EWI Meeting
The beautiful Broadmoor Hotel was the location for our annual Holiday luncheon this year. We had a record attendance of 84! It was held in the ballroom due to the construction being done to the Penrose room, but it was just as lovely. The food as always was melt in your mouth. We had the benefit of having the Pikes Peak Flute Choir entertain us with their melodious holiday selections – thanks to Wanda Reaves. We also had the honor of having 2 of our scholarship recipients attend the luncheon – Rebecca Tonn and Barbara Quinn. As always having them attend brings it home about why we do our fund raising. They were both very appreciative to have received the benefit of our scholarships. We also collected the gifts to be given to Silver Key – thank you to everyone who participated. Door prizes were donated by lawyer Susan Wood-Ellis, Donna Berty of Select Long Term Care, Marti Hartman of Woodford Manufacturing, Kathleen O’Leary of Lane Affiliates-Pepsi, Linda Williamson and Allison Scott from the Broadmoor and Lorrie Molli from Goodwill. Be sure to turn in your donations to Womens Resource Agency that Kathy Wallace announced as they need our support as well. Thanks to all of you that attended and all of the honored guests!

Condolences to our friend and EWI Board member
Beth Alexander of Cachet Baskets was injured in a head-on collision Christmas Eve. Beth is doing well, thanks to her seat belts and air bag, but her little dog, Cuk, was killed and her car was totalled. We send her our love and healing thoughts during this difficult time.
Publications Co-Chair Dianne Crimble (now Loper)

EWI Charities
One of the great things about EWI is the way our members give back to the community. At the December 14 EWI Christmas Luncheon hosted by The Broadmoor, members and guests had the opportunity to support some of our favorite charities: Silver Key, Care and Share, Urban Peak and the Women’s Resource Agency. Thanks to all of our members who contribute their time and resources to help others in need.
